Common questions
How does Group 1 work?
You call or send a request, and we come out to look at the job and give you a written estimate. If you hire us, Group 1 signs the contract, schedules one of our vetted crews and manages the job to completion. More on how it works.
What licensing applies to home improvement work here?
In Shelby County, residential jobs between $3,000 and $25,000 require a Tennessee Home Improvement license, and jobs of $25,000 and up need a contractor license. In Mississippi, larger residential jobs fall under the State Board of Contractors. Ask any contractor for their license number and certificate of insurance before you sign.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. Estimates are free and come with no obligation.
My house is older. Is lead paint an issue?
Homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint. Federal rules require painters who disturb painted surfaces in those homes to be EPA lead-safe (RRP) certified. Mention your home's age when you request a quote.
Do you do more than painting?
Yes. Group 1 handles painting, gutters, foundation repair and drainage, concrete, fencing and tree service. See all services.
