Foundation repair in the Memphis area
Foundation evaluations, pier stabilization, crawl space repair and yard drainage.
Cracks in drywall, doors that stick, sloping floors and stair-step cracks in brick are the usual first signs that a foundation is moving. Some movement is cosmetic; some is structural. The first step is finding out which.
Group 1 starts with an on-site evaluation, measures the floor, and gives you a written scope. Structural repairs are designed to the conditions found, not sold from a menu.

What's different here
Memphis sits on layers of clay, silt and sand near the surface, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Clay-rich soil shrinks in long dry spells and swells when it is soaked, and that seasonal movement is behind a lot of settling slabs and cracked brick in the area.
Because water drives so much of that movement, drainage often matters as much as piers. Fixing gutters, downspouts and yard grading is frequently part of a lasting foundation repair here.

Foundation repair: common questions
How do I know if my foundation needs repair?
Doors and windows that stick, floors that slope, wide or growing cracks, and stair-step cracks in brick are the common signs. An evaluation tells you whether it is structural.
Does foundation work need a permit?
Structural work usually does. Group 1 pulls the permits required where your home is located.
