French drains and yard drainage in the Memphis area
French drains, catch basins, downspout lines and regrading to move water away from the house.
Standing water near the foundation, a soggy yard after every storm, or a wet crawl space are drainage problems first. A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with perforated pipe that collects water and carries it to a safe outlet.
Often the simplest fix comes first: burying downspout lines, adding a catch basin at a low spot, or regrading soil so it slopes away from the house.

French drains and yard drainage: common questions
Where does a French drain send the water?
To a lower part of the yard, a dry well, or the street where local rules allow. It cannot be routed onto a neighbor's property.
