Exterior house painting in the Memphis area
Siding, trim, soffits, fascia, shutters and doors, prepped for Mid-South heat and humidity.
Long, humid summers are hard on exterior paint here. North-facing walls and shaded trim tend to grow mildew, and sun-facing sides chalk and fade faster. A good exterior job is mostly prep: washing off mildew, scraping and sanding loose paint, replacing soft wood, and caulking gaps before any color goes on.
Many brick homes in the area only need the painted parts redone: trim, fascia, soffits, shutters, garage and entry doors. That is a smaller, faster job than full siding and is worth asking about.
Spring and fall are the easiest seasons for exterior work in the Mid-South. Painters can work through summer, but they plan around afternoon storms and avoid painting surfaces in direct midday sun.

Exterior house painting: common questions
How long does exterior paint last in Memphis?
Plan on roughly 7–10 years on siding and less on sun-beaten trim, depending on prep, paint quality and how much sun and shade each side gets. Mildew on shaded walls is usually the first sign of trouble.
Can you paint my brick?
Yes, but painted brick is hard to undo. Painters usually recommend a breathable masonry paint or limewash. If your home is in a historic district, check with the city or town first.
Do I need to be home during the job?
Not usually for exterior work. You will want to be reachable to approve colors and for the final walk-through.
